Kritika Shrestha, Credit Assessor

What do you do in your role?

As a Credit Assessor, my job is like being a financial detective. I dive deep into people’s or businesses’ financial records to figure out if they’re a good fit for a loan. It’s all about weighing risks – looking at things like their income, debts, and payment history to decide if they’re likely to pay back what they owe. Then, I make recommendations on whether to approve or deny credit applications. It’s a mix of number crunching, detective work, and making smart decisions.

What have you done before working for WLTH?

With over 8 years of experience in the finance industry, I’ve held diverse roles across various departments, including trade reporting, project management, customer service, compliance, and quality assurance. My journey has encompassed a range of responsibilities, but it’s given me a solid grip on how things work in the financial world and the skills to handle whatever comes my way.

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?

Traveling and exploring are my greatest joys. Whether it’s strolling through city streets or hiking in nature, I love discovering new places and experiencing different cultures. Each journey is an opportunity to learn, grow, and create lasting memories. From remote landscapes to bustling markets, every destination offers its own unique charm. Traveling allows me to broaden my horizons and embrace the diversity of our world, enriching my life in ways I never imagined.

What is something that people don’t know about you?

Besides my regular interests and activities, I’ve always had a passion for special effects makeup. I took a yearlong course in London and taking that course was a dream come true. It led to some great opportunities working on movie sets and in fashion. It’s a skill I’ve honed over time and something I enjoy experimenting with whenever I get the chance. It’s not something I talk about often, but it’s definitely a fun and unique aspect of who I am.

What is your favourite food/drink?

Choosing a favourite food is quite the challenge for me because I’m an all-around food enthusiast. From Thai delicacies to comforting Italian dishes, I appreciate the diversity of cuisines and flavours. However, if I absolutely had to narrow it down, there’s nothing quite like the warmth and love infused in a home-cooked meal by my mum. It’s not just about the taste but also the nostalgia and the comfort it brings, making it truly special to me.

Where is your favourite place you have been to and why?

It’s tough to pinpoint just one favourite place, considering my love for various destinations, each cherished for different reasons. Yet, if I had to choose, the French Quarter in New Orleans stands out distinctly. Unlike any other place I’ve visited, the vibrant energy, historic architecture, and lively atmosphere create an unforgettable experience. Wandering through the streets, listening to jazz music spilling out from cosy bars, and indulging in delicious beignets at Café du Monde make it a place filled with charm and character.
